The Tigers finish up the non-conference slate today against in-state foe North Alabama

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Auburn is coming off one of its best all-around performances of the season against Middle Tennessee State on Tuesday, and now they're preparing to head into SEC play with some momentum.

Antoine Mason hit a stride against MTSU and was draining almost every shot he took. Trayvon Reed is developing into the force under the basket we've been hoping for. Cinmeon Bowers is still snagging rebounds. Auburn is playing its best basketball yet this season with four straight home victories. Now they look to finish off the non-conference schedule with a fifth straight victory.

The opponents are the Lions of North Alabama. The Lions are a Division II school, and are 5-6 on the year. According to the official site, while this will count as an official game for Auburn, it will be considered an exhibition as far as North Alabama's record is concerned.

This game should not be remotely close, to be honest. Were this a Tony Barbee led team, I might say differently. However, this Bruce Pearl coached team is really starting to come together. They still may need another season before they're in the NCAA tournament hunt, but they are definitely improving. Thus, a Division II school should not give them any troubles. However, I've seen strange things happen before.
