Auburn Recruiting: High School All Star Game Recaps

How did some of Auburn's targets and commitments do in this weekend's games?

Under Armour All-American Game

Auburn had a number of players in this game who are committed to the Tigers and even more targets. Perhaps the biggest target with the biggest performance was DE Byron Cowart. Cowart was named the game's MVP for Team Highlight. Auburn wasn't exactly a big player for Cowart previously, but the Muschamp hire has changed that.

Of Auburn's commitments, LB Darrell Williams had the best day. He pulled down two interceptions, including one that he returned 47 yards. Jordan Colbert and Kerryon Johnson were both impressive in practice, but Colbert aggravated a previous shoulder injury during the game and Johnson did not do much during the actual game. It's important to note that Johnson was playing as a Safety in the game, whereas Auburn has been recruiting him to be a running back.

D'Anfernee McGriff did not play in the game due to an ACL injury. He was scheduled to play linebacker, although the Tigers have been recruiting him more as a wide receiver. He was still at the game, though, and AuburnUndercover had him interview a number of Auburn commitments and targets.

US Army All-American Bowl

Auburn FB/H-Back/TE commit Chandler Cox had himself a pretty good game in this one. He pulled down the first reception of the game:

He also had a pretty good block on a long touchdown run. He is #11, who flattens a guy just before the runner goes into the endzone:

Also blocking on that run is #77 Martez Ivey, one of the nation's top recruits in this class. Ivey and Cox were high school teammates and are best friends. Ivey was set to announce his choice at the game - and most have pegged him as a Florida Gator - but he delayed his decision. There are many who feel that may be a very good thing for the Auburn Tigers.

Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl

The only Auburn player on this roster was OG Marquel Harrell. It's hard to point to stats for offensive lineman, but from the little I've been able to find, he was very much a force in this game on the offensive line. Auburn's offensive line should be in good shape in the coming years with the talent we've been bringing in.
