Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted. In one moment. Would you capture it, or just let it slip? Yo.
Sean White looked pretty good at football. - Or maybe the offensive line looked a lot better. In either case, White found time to make great throws downfield without [gasp] having Auburn's renowned top playmaker of 2015, Duke Williams. If you'll recall, the greatest receiver of all time [per media reports] was recently kicked off of Auburn's squad for a rampage of fisticuffs [per media reports]. Somehow, Sean White survived.
His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs. But he keeps on forgetting what he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud.
Don't be happy with beating Kentucky! they say - I'm happy with beating Kentucky. Going into the game, Kentucky was the only team with a shot at taking the lowly SEC Eastern Division away from Florida's squad of 'Roid Ragers and Missile Launchers. So yeah, it was a three point win over Kentucky, but it was also a guarantee that this absolutely is not 2012. Moreover, I'm pretty sure that Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Georgia look a little less invincible right now.
Here is what is exhausting me right now: soulless, robotic football fans from the school across the state telling Auburn fans they can't enjoy being "okay."
Is 7-5 what anyone expected? 8-4? Or [gasp] 6-6? Nope. Not even a little. But did anyone expect Toledo, Memphis and Duke to be among the top 25 teams in America?
Concede that this year is a strange one. And through that, Auburn has just one bad loss [MSU]. LSU destroyed Auburn, but I think all of us underestimated how good LSU was going to be. I don't even want a do-over there. Give me another shot at Mississippi State and everyone could be feeling much different right now, though.
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out. He's choking how, everybody's joking now. The clock's run out, time's up, over, blow! Snap back to reality, Oh there goes gravity, Oh, there goes Rabbit, he choked, he's so mad, but he won't give up that easy, no, he won't have it, he knows his whole back's to these ropes. It don't matter, he's dope, he knows that but he's broke. He's so stagnant, he knows, When he goes back to his mobile home, that's when it's back to the lab again, yo, this whole rhapsody. He better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass him.
Another thing that is exhausting me a bit is the Auburn fan that is mad because Gus Malzahn continues to hint that Jeremy Johnson may come back. Look, he's doing that because Jeremy Johnson isn't terrible at football. And at some point, he's going to get his head on straight and contribute. And that's why he keeps trotting out there and lining up at wide receiver and such. He'll be a factor this season in a game that you didn't think Auburn would win a month ago. I still feel like that can happen. Call me a homer, but at least I'm having fun. It's football. If you want to be angry about it, go grab a slab of ribs at Archibald's, crank up "Dixieland Delight" and criticize the t-shirts that people choose to wear when you see them in public doing things like purchasing gas or groceries. Roll Tide.
- I am making my first ever trip to Arkansas. Pretty pumped about it. This leaves me just Texas A&M that I will have never seen. I've passed Missouri, and I've been on campus at South Carolina, but no games within.
And I don't care for Bert. I've made that abundantly clear.
It's been suggested that maybe this is a relegation game. Maybe one of these coaches has a hot seat. I certainly don't buy that that is Gus right now. Even a little bit. I'll agree that the Bert experiment isn't really working out. And if he loses this one, I'm not sure he can handle his self-proclaimed biggest rival.
Even more importantly? This one is for all the Birminghams. Win this one and lock up a blustery winter afternoon in the Magic City this January. Lose it? And the Iron Bowl will be your only bowl this season. So, yeah, Auburn, you only get one shot. One opportunity.
YOU BETTER LOSE YOURSELF IN THE MUSIC, THE MOMENT, YOU OWN IT, YOU BETTER NEVER LET IT GO (GO) YOU ONLY GET ONE SHOT, DO NOT MISS YOUR CHANCE TO BLOW THIS OPPORTUNITY COMES ONCE IN A LIFETIME (YO)
