Last season was the first time Auburn had ever played San Jose State. This season marks their second trip in as many years.
Things are a bit different, now. San Jose State changed both coordinators over the off season. One of them is very well known to Auburn fans: Gorgeous Al Borges. The man who came in for the 2004 season and turned Jason Campbell into a first round draft pick.
The other is Greg Robinson. Yes, GERG. Greg Robinson was the head coach at Syracuse in an awful stint before moving on to less than exemplary tenures as the defensive coordinator at Michigan under RichRod and then at Texas in Mack Brown's last years. He replaces Manny Diaz, whom Auburn faced just last week. That sounds like it means it should be easier, but SJSU doesn't have a horrible defense by any stretch.
This game could mean everything for the rest of this season. That's not hyperbole, either. Struggle or lose this game, and what little confidence the team built against MSU could collapse. Hopefully the Tigers have a great showing.
