It's the weekend, and that means there's football! And without Auburn on TV, you can focus on all the other games going on.
Thursday night's games are intriguing in a way. Some high flying offenses will be on display when SMU plays Houston. Then Washington travels to #17 USC for the late night game. Friday features a Southern Miss team that is looking much better than in recent years. They'll be taking on Marshall in what could be an intriguing game.
Saturday starts off with The Red River Rivalry. Yes, #10 Oklahoma SHOULD destroy unranked Texas. The problem is this is the exact situation where Texas normally does the opposite. It's been a weird series over the last few years. Maryland is possibly but maybe not firing Randy Edsall, and hey the Ohio State game is a perfect time to do it. They also play at noon, but on the Big Ten Network. If you're a fan of watching unholy slaughters, Baylor plays Kansas on one of the FoxSports Networks, too.
The 3:30 slot is highlighted by UGA at Tennessee on CBS. At the same time, LSU will travel to Baton Rouge to play South Carolina on the road. Yes, you read that right. South Carolina is officially the home team for this game. It was relocated due to the horrific flooding in South Carolina. Georgia Tech takes on Clemson, and it would tickle me to death to see Paul Johnson knock off Dabo. However, if you're wanting the marquee Top 25 match-up for the 3:30 slot, that would be #13 Northwestern at #18 Michigan on the Big Ten Network and WHAT IS THIS FOOTBALL SEASON!?
Other intriguing games for the day? Eh, Arkansas travels to Bama, so Bert will likely get destroyed. #2 TCU at Kansas State could be intriguing, maybe. Miami at #12 Florida State is at 8pm on ABC, and it's hard to believe how little people care about anything to do with Miami football, anymore.
The 10pm EST slot has a good Top 25 match-up when #23 Cal takes on #5 Utah. Did you realize Utah was ranked 5th? I sure didn't. Being in the PAC12 seems to be working out pretty well for them after a rough start.
The fun technically doesn't end on Saturday if you live on the East Coast, though. San Diego State will play Hawaii at midnight Eastern.
