News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

GOLF

We're a golf school, didn't you know? Men's Golf is ranked #1 in the nation by Golfweek, and senior Michael Johnson is the #1 ranked individual in collegiate golf. That's mighty impressive, right there. War Damn Golf.

BASKETBALL

See video of Bruce Pearl going around campus to talk to students about this Friday night's game against UAB. It's going to be a full house in the arena. Hopefully the Tigers can pull off the upset. And yes, of course, beating UAB would definitely be an upset.

Looking for information on the game? Or games, rather. The official site has parking and ticket information for the women's game (5:30 tip) and the men's game (8:30 tip).

Bruce Pearl spoke about Auburn's practices so far this week as they get ready for their first official game of the season. Hopefully the Tigers will be fully healthy in the next week or so.

FOOTBALL

Auburn did a few things a bit differently in this week's game against Texas A&M to get the offense going. WarRoom Eagle detailed two things in particular in his weekly Xs and Os article.

Normally I do the AUperations Order post on Friday around lunch. However, Friday is going to be crowded with articles for football and basketball, and yesterday was Veteran's Day, so it seemed like a good time to go ahead and publish that piece. See my military order style preview of the UGA game.

Will TJ Davis see the field for Auburn this year? It's looking increasingly unlikely. Honestly, at this point I think he should just take the redshirt season. At the same time, Auburn is hoping to have Josh Holsey back for 2016, as well.

What did Rhett Lashlee say when he met with the media last night? Well, he's hoping the offense continues to be as productive as it was against A&M. He also updated the quarterback situation by essentially saying White is practicing and improving, but still not 100%, though he could still play.

There have been 17 targeting calls in the SEC this season. Only three of them have been overturned. Somehow the SEC officials saw enough on the hit to Dinson to over turn it. I still don't have a clue what they saw to do that, and given the explanation the SEC gave, I still don't understand how that one was over turned. Had it been in the NFL it would have been flagged as a crack-back block.

I've brought it up before, but one of the issues with the defense over the last few years has been turnover on the coaching staff. Kris Frost - as a 5th year senior - is playing under his fourth defensive coordinator. I really would love to have seen what he could do with another year under Coach Boom and Lance Thompson. He really seems to have turned a corner the last 2-3 games and is playing some of the best football of his Auburn career.

Interested in what bowl game the Tigers may make? Well check out what people are saying. It all depends on how Auburn closes out the season, of course, and also you have to remember that now the SEC sets the match-ups rather than bowls getting choices in a certain order.

There will be a familiar face to Auburn fans stalking the sidelines on Saturday. Unfortunately, he'll be on the other side of the field - something he's done before when he was at Arkansas. Tracy Rocker is coaching the defensive line at UGA, and he'll be back on the Plains for the first time since the 2010 championship season.

Jason Campbell hasn't played football this season, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been contacted. The most recent team to gauge his interest reportedly has been the Indianapolis Colts, as Andrew Luck deals with injury.
