Composite Four Star JUCO Defensive End Paul James Commits To Auburn

The Tigers add commitment #15 to the 2016 recruiting class.

Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

It almost happened a few weeks ago, but Saturday night he pulled the trigger. Composite 4* JUCO Defensive End Paul James from Copiah-Lincoln Community College picked the Tigers as his school. You can see the original fan shot, here. AuburnUndercover was the first to report the news.

James, 6'4, 255 lbs, is the #1 JUCO defensive end in the nation according to 247Sports. He definitely has potential to step right in and add depth to the defensive end position at Auburn. Carl Lawson could conceivably go pro following this season, which would leave the Tigers in need of some help at the end position, and James is an excellent choice to add that depth.

If Lawson doesn't go pro? More the better, since it will add even more of a pass rush to the Tigers' defensive line.

The Highlights

The Class

With the commitment of James, Auburn moves to #16 in the nation and 7th in the SEC for the 2016 recruiting cycle. The Tigers are still in the hunt for a number of big recruits that could catapult the Tigers even higher in the rankings before the cycle is done. With 15 recruits on board, the Tigers only have 10 spots left, at most. You have to figure those are going to go to a WR or two, a few linebackers, and some offensive linemen. The Tigers will definitely take a few stud defensive linemen if they pick Auburn, though, too.
