Texas vs Texas Tech on Thanksgiving night. That just doesn't have the same flair and fun as Texas vs Texas A&M, does it? Such a shame the way that rivalry has gone by the wayside.
Since Friday is a day many take off work (or have off, already), there's a pretty decent slate of games to watch, then, too. Navy at Houston has potential to be a whole lot of fun. Missouri at Arkansas will be rough, as it's going to be Gary Pinkel's last game as Mizzou's head coach (barring the weird 5-7 bowl team situation). Washington State, which is ranked, now, sees the light of day in a 3:30 Apple Cup game. Iowa is ranked #4 and hmm, maybe Greg Davis wouldn't have been a bad OC choice a few years ago? They play Nebraska at 3:30. Baylor vs TCU doesn't have the power we hoped it would earlier this season, but it should still be interesting. Although neither team's original star QB will be healthy or even play. That game is 7:30.
Saturday sees #8 Ohio State travel to #10 Michigan at noon. That should be a very interesting game to start the day. Clean Old Fashioned Hate (Georgia vs Georgia Tech) is also a nooner. Let's face it, though, the only game you care about Saturday is the IRON BOWL. It's the 3:30 CBS game. Welcome back, Gary.
There are a bunch of Top 25 games to close out the day, though. The Egg Bowl features two ranked teams at 7:15. #6 Notre Dame plays #9 Stanford at 7:30. #13 Florida State is at #12 Florida at 7:30, too. Bedlam features two ranked team with Oklahoma #3 and Oklahoma State #11, and that just about does it for any game you might want to actually watch.
Enjoy the weekend, folks. Now here's the full schedule.
