News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

BASKETBALL

Fresh off a tough loss to Middle Tennessee State, Auburn is looking to rebound against Mercer tonight in Auburn Arena. We'll have a preview up here before long. For now, check out the official site's story on how the Tigers want to push tempo. Kareem Canty is hoping he can keep the hot hand that he's had in the last few games. It's easy to see why people last season said he was the most talented player on the roster while he was redshirting.

Bruce Pearl said there's a chance Tahj Shamsid-Deen could play against Mercer. Personally, I think we should wrap him in bubble wrap until the conference games start.

FOOTBALL

Gus spoke to the media briefly yesterday afternoon. He updated the coaching staff for the bowl game, told us about player health and eligibility (everyone passed their classes!), but that's about it. Nothing on the defensive coordinator search.

Last week Blake discussed the places to eat in Birmingham if you're going to the Birmingham Bowl. This week he's on to the places to drink if you'd like to have some nice adult beverages.

Who will start the bowl game? We should know, soon. If everyone is indeed healthy, then it should be Sean White in my opinion.

The Ledger-Enquirer is on the Secondary in their position reviews. While much maligned at times, there were some bright spots in the secondary, this year. Carlton Davis is probably the biggest one.

Daniel Carlson and an offensive linemen were named to the All-SEC team by the AP. This time it was Braden Smith rather than Shon Coleman, though. For Calrson, it's his second All-Conference selection.
