News and notes from the Auburn corners of the internet.

HOME ON THE PLAINS

Baseball and Softball both have big home series coming up this week. You can check out all the info in Everett's weekly round up!

BASEBALL

The Tigers took their mid-week game against Florida A&M on Tuesday evening 3-2 off the bat of Damon Haeker's first career home run. They will have a "weekend" series against Georgia coming up beginning on Thursday and running through Saturday. I'm guessing this is to leave Sunday free for the Softball team's (hopefully just regular season) final home game.

In excellent news for Auburn, Keegan Thompson has been cleared to pitch this weekend. He left last Saturday's game against Ole Miss with tendinitis in his shoulder. He will be the starter for Saturday's game. Cole Lipscomb and Rocky McCord will start Thursday and Friday's games.

FOOTBALL

The coordinators and newly confirmed starting quarterback Jeremy Johnson met with the media yesterday. We have a Tweet-cap of those press meetings for you to check out!

Auburn released their expenses for this season's Outback Bowl on Tuesday afternoon. The school spent $1.67 million on the trip.

In roster attrition, JUCO CB Joe Turner is no longer with the football team. Apparently he hasn't been a part of the team for a while, but this was the first we've heard about it.

Cole Cubelic lays out three ways in which he thinks Auburn's defense will improve under Will Muschamp. Given the state of Auburn's defense last season, I think it's probably going to improve in just about every facet of the game. That's not entirely due to Muschamp, though. It's also because of the return of some players from injury.

Will Muschamp doesn't really see any separation in his linebackers, right now. I'm going to take that as Tre Williams and Justin Garrett are doing extremely well and pushing Frost and McKinzy because that's what I'm really hoping happened this spring.

Mike Herndon lays out seven true freshman he can see providing immediate contributions in the SEC. It's no surprise to see Byron Cowart on that list.

Cowart has been tabbed by most to play at either DE or the Buck position. Another player who could see time at both of those positions is DaVonte Lambert when he comes back from his knee injury.

ESPN's Edward Aschoff is buying into this coming season's Auburn Tigers after the spring practice results and the incoming recruiting class.

SB Nation

The Read Option is out and has information about rumors that Alabama may be getting ANOTHER transfer QB. This one may actually be a legitimate Heisman candidate if he transfers in, though. I thought it was funny that someone pointed out Bama may want to bring him in if nothing else than to keep him away from LSU.
