With the 87th overall pick in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers chose former Auburn wide receiver Sammie Coates. Coates was the 3rd selection for the Steelers. He is joined by two other former SEC athletes, Senquez Golson from Ole Miss and Bud Dupree of Kentucky

Coates will join a roster whose only real marquee names are Antonio Brown and Darrius Heyward-Bey, who have 6 and 7 years in the League, respectively. Brown was the Steeler's leading receiver last season, followed by running back Le'Veon Bell and TE Heath Miller. With that, he'll have a chance to become an immediate contributor. Coates will provide an excellent deep threat for Ben Roethlisberger.
I think this is a good landing spot for the Steelers. They need another big time receiver, as evidenced by last season's stats. Coates has a chance to provide an immediate deep threat to help the Steeler's running game. We know he's good at catching passes from quarterbacks on the run. I look forward to seeing what he can do for them!
