SOFTBALL
WOOOO!!!!! SEC CHAMPIONS!!!!! That was thrilling. The championship game, especially. The Tigers rallied back from a two run deficit in the bottom of the 7th and came away with the 6-5 victory. In Clint Myers' second season on the Plains he's already a conference tournament champion. It's not like this was a lucky run through the tournament, either. The Tigers were only 1/2 game back from Florida for the outright regular season conference title.
The NCAA Selection Show was last night, and the Tigers are the #4 seed in the nation. You can see their path to Oklahoma City here. With the #4 seed, the Tigers are assured of home field advantage through to the CWS if they keep winning. Good luck getting tickets. It appears reserved seating for the Regional sold out inside of 30 minutes.
BASEBALL
This was... well, it was awful. Just horrible. Auburn was swept by Alabama. I don't really want to talk about it.
GOLF
The ladies closed out their season in the San Antonio Regional. They failed to finish high enough to advance to the NCAA Championships. The future looks good for the team though, as the two lowest scores in the final round were shot by freshmen.
The men will begin their regional play this Thursday in Lubbock, Texas.
BASKETBALL
Alex Thompson has announced his transfer destination. He is headed to Samford.
FOOTBALL
He'll be one and done. He's just using Auburn. He doesn't care about the school or the fans or anything. Wait, what? You mean he came back and graduated? He said things like this? Well I'll be. I guess all those folks were completely full of $#!+. Congrats, Cam. Job well done.
It's hard to imagine Will Muschamp staying at Auburn long as the defensive coordinator, but then he talks about all the things he's missed about being an assistant that head coaches aren't able to do and you can begin to tell yourself that he will stick around for a few years at least. I hope so. The combination of Muschamp and Malzahn should be deadly.
Muschamp needs good linebackers and Auburn is hoping that one who has shown so much promise in practice will finally be able to avoid injury and show out on the field.
The Montgomery Advertiser is still examining Auburn's depth. They did running backs and quarterbacks over the weekend.
ESPN's Edward Aschoff took on the "deregulation" issue in regards to conference divisions. He is in favor of doing away with it.
In further free agent news, Jonathon Mincy apparently impressed the Falcons' staff enough this weekend that he turned an invite to Rookie Camp into a Free Agent deal. Congrats, Jonathon!
With that, we have to update our NFL Free Agent Signings article to include Mincy!
