News and notes from the Auburn corners of the internet

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, and May the 4th Be With You!

DIAMOND TIGERS

I wrote something late last night on the great weekends that both sets of Tigers had. You should go check it out!

FOOTBALL

The NFL Draft has dominated news over the past few days. We have a story stream with all of our updates on the draft in one convenient spot. In that stream you can see every FanShot of UDFA deals and every article on drafted players. Auburn had quite the weekend in the Draft.

If you just want a quick and easy way to see which players were signed to what Free Agent deals, hey we've got you covered there, too! I'm honestly amazed that Jermaine Whitehead hasn't signed a deal to this point. I really expected him to catch on somewhere. I'm doubly shocked that he has not and yet Brandon King signed a deal with the Patriots. I wonder if maybe Auburn's coaches missed something that the Patriots see in King? I honestly hope so and hope he earns a spot and has a great career.

UPDATE: Before I even publish this, I'm putting in this update. I could edit what I wrote above, but I figured I'd leave it in. News has now come out that Jermaine Whitehead signed a Free Agent deal with the 49ers, and now Brandon Fulse has an invite to the Chicago Bears mini-camp.

The shock of the weekend was why Reese Dismukes wasn't drafted. AL.com has a bit of information on the speculation involved with that. Some of it are "character concerns" that I can only guess go back to the stories during Reuben Foster's recruitment and the rest lies in the fact that apparently Reese has really small hands (the smallest of all players at the Combine). Plus, he never had to do much pass blocking at Auburn. Personally, I think the Steelers got a steal in getting him as a Free Agent. I don't know if he'll be able to find a place with Pouncey already entrenched as the center there, but someone is going to end up very happy with Reese one day.

In the midst of all of the good news of free agent signings, Auburn dumped some bad (but not unexpected) news on Saturday night, as DE Elijah Daniel was dismissed from the football team following his arrest last Wednesday.

In much happier news, Sammie Coates celebrated his draft weekend by getting engaged. Congrats, Sammie!

Back to Auburn football, the Montgomery Advertiser examines Auburn's depth at the left tackle spot, where it sounds like Shon Coleman has really begun to come into his own.

Now back to awesome news! Former Tiger Sen'Derrick Marks followed through on his asking an 18 year old cancer patient to prom and it was as glorious as you can imagine.
