News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Auburn sports are now officially complete for the 2014-15 Academic Year. We'll have more on that later this week as we discuss the year that was. For now, here's the links. There's not much this morning.

BASKETBALL

Let's talk 2017 basketball recruiting! What? I'm not kidding. One of the SB Nation Big Ten sites lists their belief as to why 5* Center Austin Wiley should choose the Michigan State Spartans over the home state Tigers. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Bruce Pearl can put on the court in the next few years to show how this article isn't focused more on the now than the future of what Auburn can be. There's still a good year and a half before this kid can sign anywhere, though.

FOOTBALL

The name that gets most lost in the shuffle of running backs (as I even pointed out in the Malik Miller commitment article) is Peyton Barber. He wasn't as highly recruited as the Tigers' other backs (a 3* and last second flip from Ole Miss), but the coaches still believe he would make an excellent starting running back if he wins the job this fall. If he's going to make a move, it's probably going to have to be this season. Time is running out for him to assert his place in the pecking order.

The AL.com VIP 25 is on #20 now, and they discuss a certain early-season trip to the Bayou.

ESPN.com discusses the history of highly-recruited quarterbacks transferring away from SEC schools in recent years. There are a few Auburn mentions in there.

In former Tiger news, Jason Campbell is expected to hang up his cleats. Jason had a pretty good run in the NFL, and we'll always love him for the magic that was 2004.

Also in former Tiger news, Cam Newton hit a guy so hard in "Bubble Ball" that he literally (1) knocked him out of his shoes.
