News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

BASKETBALL

Donors will be able to do some pretty nifty things with seat selections and upgrades this year according to the official site.

Phillip Marshall sat down with Chuck Person for a Q&A. It's got a lot of good stuff about last season, the future of Auburn basketball, and Chuck's journey as a whole.

FOOTBALL

I got bored yesterday morning at drill doing the whole "hurry up and wait" thing and decided to throw together a quick look at what might be The Auburn Triple Crown.

Auburn came very close to pulling the redshirt off defensive lineman Dontavius Russell last season. Ultimately, they decided not to. The redshirt freshman is ready to take the SEC by storm this fall. Everyone is talking about Monty Adams and the big year we hope he can have. With Russell, Auburn has the potential to have a dominant interior line. I can't wait to see him get on the field.

How often do you see a team talk about how they're looking for a punter to be a big weapon? Well, Auburn is looking for it from Ian Shannon according to the Ledger-Enquirer. I can definitely understand why. Steven Clark was such an underrated aspect of the 2013 team. Auburn's punting struggled last season as the Tigers searched to find someone to take punting duties over Daniel Carlson.

Marcus Davis was relatively quiet last season after a very nice freshman campaign. Now as a junior he's another in a list of players hoping to step up as a big time receiver for the Tigers.

Ahhhh, the Satellite Camps. Jim Harbaugh's Prattville camp was last Friday. With not much going on around Auburn, many of Auburn's beat writers covered the event. James Crepea is the first I've seen with a write-up on it over at the Montgomery Advertiser.

Travaris Robinson has been speaking about the newcomers to Auburn. Brandon Marcello has a good article detailing Robinson's thoughts on those players Auburn may need to provide depth (more on that around lunch this afternoon).

Speaking of Robinson, he was shocked when Derrick Moncrief left the team according to al.com. Moncrief had been moved to linebacker, so he was likely unhappy with the way things were going. Personally, I don't really understand that. Will Muschamp turned Will Herring from a middling defensive back to a guy who has spent a decade in the NFL at linebacker. He did it in one season. Oh well, we wish Moncrief the best wherever he ends up.

Cam Newton is awesome. Did y'all know that? What am I saying, of course you knew that.

The Sporting News has a way-too-early bowl projection for 2015. They predict Auburn will make it to the College Football Playoff, but not to the Championship Game. Who do they see beating the Tigers? Find out!
