News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

GOLF

Former Auburn golfer Blayne Barber finished in the Top 10 at the Barbasol Championship in Opelika this weekend. Barber has finished in the Top 10 a few times this year, and is hopefully ready to break out and win on the PGA Tour.

Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn went across the pond to hang out with Jason Dufner at The Open Championship in Scotland. I'm sure that was just torturous.

FOOTBALL

When the Biletnikoff Award Watch List was announced last week, we were astounded that Duke Williams was not on the Watch List. Last Friday we figured out the reason for why he's not on the list.

10 total Tigers made the media's Pre-Season All-SEC team, including three on the first team.

AuburnUndercover has a free article on Jeremy Johnson and his running ability. This is your reminder that Tuco took on the question of "Can Jeremy Johnson Run The Dang Ball?" last week.

How is Auburn's defense? Well, it's already better under Muschamp according to this article by the Montgomery Advertiser. That's important, since Gus Malzahn spoke about them losing confidence in themselves down the stretch last season. AL.com asks if they've regained that confidence.

What did Gus Malzahn do to snag Will Muschamp? He's finally discussed his pitch to the former and now current Auburn defensive coordinator.

Is he the top defensive mind in college football? ESPN.com examined that and some other candidates.

Josh Holsey has played Safety and Corner throughout his time at Auburn. Where will he be in 2015? Auburn brought in Blake Countess from Michigan who could take a spot at Corner, and the Tigers have two very good Safeties. My guess is Holsey will play in both spots this season.

Auburn is weak in secondary depth (which is why I think Holsey could play in all spots this year), and that also means that some of the freshmen will be taking part immediately.

ESPN's "Football Power Index" thinks Auburn only has a 3% chance to win the SEC this year. Can we get to the games, now?

The Sporting News has a Top 10 of the bowl games they would like to see most, this year. They have Auburn vs Michigan in their list.
