Josh Holsey Tears ACL, Out For Season: Gus Discusses This And More in Weekly Press Conference

Gus Malzahn spoke to the media in his weekly Tuesday press conference. All credit to the beat writers who were there.

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Ugh, Josh Holsey. You really have to hate it for that kid. I loved watching him as a freshman and expected big things for him. Then he was hurt in 2013 and had to struggle back from that first ACL tear. Now two games into the 2015 season he re-tears the same knee. I really  hope he's able to come back again from this one.

It's nice to see Gus acknowledge Peyton Barber is the first up, but he still hasn't said he's the starter going forward. It's interesting. I can't help but feel that he thinks Jovon or Roc is still better and doesn't want to name Barber the starter so that if they overtake him, it's not as big a deal with the media and fans. We've still only seen two carries of what Robinson can do.

Speaking of Robinson, Gus says he could be back for LSU. I won't believe it until I see it on the field. I love Gus Malzahn as a coach, but he's never the most forthcoming and truthful when it comes to injuries until he absolutely has to. See the "day-to-day" tweet on every other injured player like Lawson and Matthews.

"We may see the wildcat." I'm shocked we haven't seen it already, honestly. Even if it's just something like the throw-back pass we ran last season against LSU with JJ split wide. I suspect we may see it some this weekend, but that's pure guess on my part.

Now to the Tweets!

To be fair, I remember one pass on a 3rd down was thrown behind him, BUT it was still a very catchable ball.
