It's the new year, which means high school all-star games!

What is it?

The first of three major All-American games featuring high school recruits from across the nation. This game will be played at the Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Florida. That's a vast improvement over Tropicana Field in Tampa, where it has previously been played.

Why should you care?

Well, there are quite a few Auburn commits playing in this one, and many of those are early entrees. There are a couple of Auburn targets who are expected to make their announcements for what schools they'll commit to, as well. However, I'm not expecting any of those to commit to Auburn at this game. For the ones who don't announce, Auburn is still very much in it for a few of them, which could catapult Auburn's 2016 all the way to the top.

Ok, just who is in it?

Here are the players currently committed to the Auburn Tigers who are playing in the game.

4* QB Woody Barrett - Yep, you can get your first look at someone who may be the future of Auburn football at QB. While he may be the future, it's probably not the near future. He is not an early enrollee, so if he were to win the starting job next fall, we'll know we're in for some growing pains.

4* CB John Broussard - An early entree from just down the road in Phenix City, Broussard took a late visit to Mississippi State, but ultimately decided he'll enroll at Auburn when the spring semester starts.

5* DE Marlon Davidson - This five star defensive end is reportedly already living in Auburn. He's an early enrollee, and his brother (Kenneth Carter) is on the staff.

4* WR Kyle Davis (injured, will not play) - We won't get to see Davis in action, unfortunately. He is going to be another early guy, though.

4* TE Landon Rice - Auburn needs a big tight-end. Rice is a BIG tight-end at 6'5, 250 lbs. He also has great hands. He's an early guy, so hopefully he can give Auburn that threat we've needed so badly.

4* WR Eli Stove - Other schools are coming after this 4* wide-receiver, but he's stayed firm. I do not believe he's an early entree.

3* OLB Tre Threat - Threat is the only 3* on this list, but he's a very capable linebacker. He was on Spanish Fort's state title team, and plays a position Auburn dearly needs talented depth in.

Who are the targets who Auburn really still has a chance with?

4* WR Nate Craig-Myers

4* ATH Jayvaughn Myers - The Brothers Myers will likely go to school together. That's not certain, though.

4* OT EJ Price

5* DT Rashan Gary

4* LB Rashaun Smith

5* LB Ben Davis

I listed these in the order of what I believe Auburn has the best chance to actually land the recruits. Those listed above aren't the only other ones in the game that Auburn is still going after, those are just the ones it seems from reading various reports that Auburn has the best chance with. The defensive staff that Kevin Steele puts together could play a big part in Auburn's chances with the defensive players listed.
