Auburn added an interesting commitment to the 2018 class today in Shaun Shivers, an all-purpose back out of Hollywood, Florida. The junior has made a name for himself both on the football field and on the track, a testament to his quickness and speed. Shivers is a borderline 3/4 star guy depending on where you look, and he holds offers from teams across the entire eastern half of the country.
Here's the kicker... Some quick searching has shown that Shaun is listed anywhere between 5'5" and 5'9", and about 170 pounds. Regardless of his actual height, he's a little guy. Of course, he's only a junior in high school, so he might add a bit of size, but the point remains that he's certainly not like anyone Auburn has right now. He's already said the coaches have told him he'd be used all over, whether it's at running back, in the slot, or returning kicks. Assuming he sticks with Auburn (signing day is a year and half out), he seems like he could be an electric addition to the offense.
A quick glance at some of his Hudl highlights appear as if he's being used as a between the tackles guy, but that's likely a high school-only skill set that works because of his quickness and size. He's definitely elusive, and once he hits open field he's gone. The easy comp for him is Trindon Holliday, former LSU standout. Like Shivers, Holliday was 5'5" but blazing fast, as he was also a sprinter. If Shivers can be even simiar to Holliday, he should be a blast to watch on the Plains. Holliday turned his specific skill set into a 6th round draft pick and a six year NFL career that ended in 2015.
It's safe to say Coach Herb Hand loved the news.

The Class
His commitment puts Auburn's 2018 class as the 12th ranked class and 3rd in the SEC. He joins 4 star dual threat QB Joey Gatewood and 4 star JUCO DE Daquan Newkirk.
