News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

BASKETBALL

The Tigers will hit the court for the first time tonight in an exhibition against Montevallo. The team will look a lot different from last year, with a lot of new faces and maybe even some surprises in the starting the lineup.

SOCCER

The #2 seeded Tigers take on the 3rd seeded Arkansas Razorbacks tonight in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. The game will be on the SEC Network and also available to stream online.

FOOTBALL

Some big news was announced early yesterday morning, as the Power 5 OOC opponent for 2018 was announced to be the Washington Huskies in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

In our (sometimes) weekly Q&A with our opponent, we spoke with Anchor of Gold about the Vanderbilt game this Saturday. They haven't posted my answers to them, yet (at least last I checked). If they don't post them, I'll just put my answers into the game thread like I did last week with Ole Miss.

In this week's History Repeating, Drew recalls former player at all levels and current basketball announcer Bill Walton, his love for the Grateful Dead, and writing your own Auburn-themed Dead lyrics.

We all knew this story was coming. See what Tight End Jalen Harris had to say about his first touchdown, his route to Auburn, and how Philip Lutzenkirchen helped him get there.

The Tigers' offense is still young. Very young. They're growing up in a hurry, and that could make for a lot of fun over the next few years.

The defense did not enjoy watching the film of the Ole Miss game. Hopefully, they were able to see what Ole Miss took advantage of and adjust to ensure it doesn't happen again. They were obviously on a good track towards that with their 2nd half performance.

I forgot to link to the Ferg's Film Room piece from the Ole Miss game. They're always worth the read as Justin Ferguson does a good job with breaking down formations, targets, pass breakups, etc. He also has an excellent piece on Auburn's defensive "Rabbits" package that involves pulling Dontavius Russell, sliding Marlon Davidson inside, and adding Jeff Holland as an end for ultimate speed getting after the quarterback.

#Legatron is a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, which should shock no one at all. Don't just assume he has it locked up, though, as it's likely going to come down to a very close competition with a good friend of his Zane Gonzalez from Arizona State. Gonzalez's stats have been quite ridiculous.
