SOCCER
The Tigers were bounced out of the SEC Tournament by Arkansas Friday night. They now await word on their NCAA fate.
FOOTBALL
There was a football game this weekend, did you know? It didn't go quite like was expected, but hey, we won! Here's the immediate post-game recap by Son of Crow. I wasn't able to watch the game live, but thanks to te magic of ESPN3, I was able to watch it last night and offered my usual "thoughts from the couch."
How impressive is Kevin Steele as Auburn's defensive coordinator? Vandy had almost three weeks (off week, game against FCS team week before that) to prepare for Auburn. Steele said they threw new things at Auburn that weren't in the scouting films. They were successful in the first half against Auburn. Then, for the second week in a row, Auburn's defense adjusted in the second half and only allowed 3 points. Last week, it was only 7 points. He's been making amazing adjustments.
How is Sean White doing? Marcus Davis says he's doing just fine and looked good in practice, yesterday. It's a bit of a strange situation. He DID get banged up against Ole Miss. I'm shocked Auburn put him in, but it was obvious Auburn needed a passing game.
If I had the time and/or the inclination, I'd go back and check out the movement in the two major polls in each of the last two seasons after the first CFB Playoff rankings come out. Auburn was ranked 12th a week ago, now they're in the Top 10 of both polls. Of course, a few teams ahead of the Tigers lost, too, so there was good reason for them to move up. Still, I'd like to look at how much the polls adjusted to closer resemble the CFB Playoff rankings after they're released.
In ESPN's SEC Power Rankings, Auburn is up to #2 in the conference behind Alabama.
With Texas A&M's loss, Auburn is now in prime position for a New Year's 6 bowl game. That's even if Auburn loses to Alabama in the Iron Bowl. Lose to Georgia, though, and that may not be the case.
Hey, have you heard about this whole Mannequin Challenge thing? It seems to be all the rage. Auburn's football team took part in it and Derrick Brown posted it to Twitter, last night.

After a quiet first two years in the NFL, Dee Ford has caught fire, this year. Before the Broncos' Sunday night game (I didn't look it up to see if Von Miller caught/passed him), Dee was tied for 1st in the NFL with 9 sacks this season.
