2016 Bowl Previews/Schedule: Saturday December 17th

Let the games begin! Here’s your first weekend’s bowl schedule.

NCAA Football: Arkansas State at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

The first bowl games kick off with Saturday’s action. It’s a busy day of bowls with a number of games to choose from. Here’s a little bit of a reason to watch each one:

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Watch Bob Davie’s new brand of option football take on a team that has the mascot of The Roadrunners. UTSA wears orange and blue, so that’s a reason to like them. It makes my Auburn colors fit in real nice here in San Antonio.

Las Vegas Bowl: It’s Houston sans Tom Herman. However, that’s not why you should watch. You need to watch to see San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey. He is quite an excellent back who will go fairly early for a RB in this year’s draft.

Raycom Media Camellia Bowl: It’s a bowl game in the Crampton Bowl in Montgomery! That’s... that’s pretty much all I’ve got for this one.

AutoNation Cure Bowl: See what early-season opponent Arkansas State looks like in their bowl game. The Red Wolves improved mightily over their very rough start to the season.

R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: It’s a bowl game in prime time. There’s not much exciting about this one other than it’s the only game on.
