Former JUCO QB Devin Adams Listed on Auburn's Spring Roster

Another new name has been added to the mix.

Rivals' Bryan Matthews was the first to point out on Twitter this morning that Auburn listed former Mississippi Delta Community College QB Devin Adams on the spring roster. Sure enough, if you check the official site's roster, you'll find his name there. He's listed as #16, with the other QBs being Jeremy Johnson, Sean White, and Tyler Queen. John Franklin III is still listed as an Athlete.

Adams was a part of the 2014 recruiting class and was a 3* Pro-Style QB from Vigor (Mobile, AL) High School. He was receiving interest from Auburn, Florida State, and Mississippi State, but only boasted offers from UAB and Southern Miss. He ended up in the JUCO ranks. He was listed at 6'3, 220 lbs according to the above link to his 247Sports profile. Auburn's roster lists him at 6'2, 247 lbs.

What does this mean? Maybe nothing. Probably nothing, actually. I never heard anything about his signing at Auburn, so I can only surmise that he walked on this semester. Will he play a part in the QB race? It's hard to see him being a real factor since he wasn't listed as a recruit or signee or even an Auburn target at any point that I can remember. My guess is he's going the Tucker Tuberville route of wanting to learn under Malzahn & Company for a coaching career. He's also depth should one of the quarterbacks on the roster now decide to transfer post Spring.

His JUCO highlights are impressive (just like all highlights), and you can see from the offense he ran at MDCC that he is a perfect fit for Malzahn's style. I'm guessing they ran a version of Gus' HUNH attack, and he decided that if he wasn't going to be recruited to a D1 school out of JUCO that he would walk-on and learn from the man himself.
