Auburn wasn't sure they'd make it into the NCAA Tournament. They were considered one of the "Last Four In" by ESPN's bracketologists. They were given the #9 seed and put up against #8 St. John's.
The final score of the St. John's game was close, but Auburn jumped out to a 25-6 lead early in that one. The Tigers were forcing turnovers and scoring off them. With the win in round one, they advanced to Round 2 to take on #1 seed Baylor.
So what did Baylor do in Round 1? Just demolish 16 seed Idaho 89-59.
Baylor comes in to this one having suffered only one loss on the season. They are the Big 12 Champions, and are the #1 seed for a reason. The website FiveThirtyEight gives Auburn only a 2% chance of winning this one. Against teams with an RPI in the top 50, the Lady Bears (I just have to say again how much I love that our teams aren't the Lady Tigers) are 16-1. Their lone loss was at Oklahoma State.
This is going to be a tough one for Auburn to put it mildly. Go get 'em Coach Flo! Shock the world!
