News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

BASEBALL

I was going to write something about this after last night's game, but I had to get to bed early and didn't get a chance to. I'll have more on it, a bit later this morning. Auburn's pitchers recorded 15 strikeouts in last night's 7-4 victory over Georgia State.

BASKETBALL

With basketball season now officially over in the college world, we closed out our postmortem of the basketball season with a look at where the roster stands and how it looks for the future. There's talent on the roster and talent coming in for next year.

If you missed it, Charles Barkley was quite thrilled with Villanova's win in Monday night's NCAA Championship. See his reaction, here.

SOFTBALL

The ladies have reached the highest ranking in team history when they got to #2 in the polls following this weekend's sweep of Kentucky. That sweep also put Auburn in a tie for first place in the conference with Florida.

FOOTBALL

The 12th practice of the spring is over, and there's a lot of information to be had from the recap. The beat writers saw a fair bit during the 30 minute observation period, but Kevin Steele provided even more information in his press conference. Steele is definitely my favorite of the coaches who regularly meet the press for how much he says.

AL.com recaps what has been learned about the early enrollees so far during spring practice. I'd say it's a fair bet that quite a few of them will see the field this fall in some capacity.

Want to read about something that's not often talked about in football? Well, here's a discussion with place kicker Daniel Carlson and holder Tyler Stovall on the kicker-holder relationship and what that means for the kicker.

John Franklin III is the "fastest QB he's ever seen" according to one of his teammates. Does that mean he'll win the starting job? Not necessarily. From multiple accounts (not just the coaches, as they have said nothing), Jeremy Johnson has had the best spring of the QBs so far. The QB race won't be decided until the fall, no matter how the spring ends.
