News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

GOLF

The NCAA Championships are about to start in golf. It's a complicated format to determine the team and individual championships. Some of it will be broadcast next week.

SOFTBALL

The official site talks about Tiffany Howard and how she's gone from Slapper to Slugger all of a sudden. She didn't hit a single home run in her first years at Auburn, then has two in the last few games.

Add another thing to the list of Kasey Cooper's accolades, as the junior was named to the Academic All-American team. She has a 4.0 in Mechanical Engineering. That's pretty impressive. Clint Myers is hoping someone will actually pitch to her. Cooper has walked an amazing 63 times this season, because no one wants to give her anything she can hit.

FOOTBALL

So, the Roc Thomas thing still hasn't happened. There were things published, yesterday, about how the transfer was imminent. Supposedly someone at Jacksonville State confirmed it, but then that was denied. However, Roc himself posted an Instagram posting that seems to indicate he's sticking around. Who knows how this ends.

Travis Williams spoke in Mobile about his linebackers and just who could be primed for a big season in 2016.

Could Marlon Davidson be a starter at defensive end immediately as a true freshman? It's possible. He had a huge spring, and last year's #1 recruit, Byron Cowart, hasn't exactly been lighting things up.

Jordan Diamond has decided on his landing spot as a graduate transfer: Miami (Ohio). That means Auburn football has swapped players with two teams this season, as Gimel President went to Illinois, while Auburn picked up T.J. Neal. Meanwhile, Diamond is off to Miami, while Marshall Taylor is coming to Auburn.
