Yesterday, Auburn offered the nation's #1 JUCO RB Octavius Matthews of Stephenson, AL. Today, he flipped his commitment from Louisville to Auburn.
Matthews, a 3* currently at Itawamba Community College, was attending Auburn's Big Cat Weekend. Auburn liked him enough to offer and he loved his trip enough to commit. His other offers were from Louisville and Mississippi State. It was said on some recruiting sites that he spent a good bit of time with another former #1 JUCO RB, Jovon Robinson, this weekend.
The Highlights
Oh man, do I like what I see. He's fast. He's got good vision. He's got good hands and balance. And, again, he's fast. This is against JUCO competition, of course, but still, that's better than against high school. He looks very good in these highlights, and with a 6'2, 200lbs frame, there's a lot of potential there.
The Class
Adding Matthews, Auburn's 7th commitment of the cycle, bumps the Tigers up all the way to 21st in the nation. They were 39th yesterday morning before the commitments of Malcolm Askew and now Matthews.
There could be more commitments on the horizon, though I'm not sure how many more will come out of this weekend's Big Cat event. The Tigers have definitely moved ahead for a few prospects with this event.
