News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

THE BIG THREE

Look, it was a bad year for Auburn's main "revenue sports." One of the worst, actually. Jay Jacobs is confident, however, that better days are ahead and that he has the right coaches in those sports.

BASEBALL

He was only good enough for 2nd team All-SEC, but Baseball America thinks Anfernee Grier is worthy of being First Team All-American. I'm going to agree with them. Grier is going to go quickly in the MLB Draft.

TRACK & FIELD

Auburn has a sprinter preparing for the NCAA Championships who also has another goal on his mind: competing for Olympic Gold.

SOFTBALL

Wow. WOW. WOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!! Did you turn that game off after OU jumped up 7-0? If you did, then you missed one of the best sporting events I've ever watched in my life. Auburn's tenacity and grit and refusal to quit when things look the worst are unparalleled. Whitney Jordan commits two errors. She hits a 3-run homer. Tiffany Howard one-ups Draper's unbelievable catch. Cooper hit a clutch home run to extend her Auburn record. And then there was Emily Carosone. All she did was walk it off with a Bottom 8th Grand Slam for the 11-7 Auburn victory.

We'll play Game 3 tonight with the National Championship to the winner. Here are some of my thoughts on the game and how to watch it.

FOOTBALL

Did you miss having night games last season? Well, there's good news for you in Auburn's first three games of the 2016 season. It was announced today by ESPN that Auburn will begin the year with three straight night games.

Auburn early entree Marlon Davidson had a very big spring practice for Auburn. Now he's got to be prepared to pick up right where he left off when fall practice rolls around in August if he wants to be a major contributor early for the Tigers.
