Auburn added commitment #14 to the 2017 recruiting class this morning.

The 2017 recruiting class continues to grow as Auburn added 3* Safety Jordyn Peters of Muscle Shoals, AL this morning. Peters is someone Auburn really started pushing for in recent weeks after he camped on the Plains back in July and earned an offer from the Tigers shortly thereafter. He also boasted offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Michigan, Mississippi State, and Virginia Tech. If Bud Foster wanted him, then I’m glad he’s a Tigers.

Standing 6’1, 181 lbs, Peters fits in with the mold of taller defensive backs that Auburn, and many other teams, are going for. His hudl profile only lists a 4.51 40 yard time, so I’m hoping that’s accurate and not embellished since that’s not exactly blazing fast. The 40 yard, height, and weight are listed as "Nike Verified" on his hudl page, so I suspect it’s correct.

HIGHLIGHTS

THE CLASS

With Peters’ commitment, the Tigers don’t move anywhere in the rankings, though they do judge up just behind Clemson. Auburn is still 12th in the nation and 5th in the SEC. They’re not far behind Tennessee, though, who already has 24 commitments in its class, so they’re not likely to bump up very far. Auburn, meanwhile, has at least 10 spots to fill and could potentially fill those with some very talented players.

There is a lot riding on this season when it comes to recruiting. If Auburn has an impressive season, this class could absolutely explode. Struggle, and it will limp to the finish line.
