News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

A bit thin this morning (and late) due to the holiday, but here you go!

COACHES

Auburn's coaches are working to give back to the school in a big way in a joint effort surrounding the "This is Auburn" campaign.

SOCCER

It was a tough battle, but the Tigers dropped a match to USC last night in Auburn.

FOOTBALL

That was rough, to say the least. Here is my immediate post-game recap I wrote in my office before dragging myself up the hill on Magnolia and down College Street to the car. I had a little more in-depth thoughts on the game Sunday morning.

Will Hastings proved any doubters wrong Saturday night. He finished the game with three very key catches and looked excellent in his performance. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of him, this season, which is awesome.

At least the defense was awesome, though, right? Gus had some words of praise for Kevin Steele's unit. All we heard for so long was how he couldn't handle spread teams. Looks like he's figured that out.

Chandler Cox says he trusts all the QBs, which is toeing the company line, of course, but is also funny because he took snaps as the wildcat, as well.

TJ Neal apologized for his "selfish tweets" following the game. Those were very definitely dumb things to say. If the defense had struggled, he may have had somewhat of a point. But, the defense was awesome.
