Auburn Heads to the Charleston Classic

We’ll learn quite a bit about the Tigers this weekend,

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

After winning their opener 102-74 over Norfolk State last Friday night, the Tigers hit the road for 3 games in 4 days in Charleston, South Carolina beginning tomorrow morning at 10:30AM against Indiana State. Auburn will play Thursday, Friday and Sunday in the Charleston Classic. The Tigers will first take on the Sycamores who produced one of the most surprising results on opening night with a 90-69 win at Indiana. Indiana State shot 17-26 from 3-point range against the Hoosiers in the game which was never close. With this in mind, it’s obvious the key for Auburn in this game will be their defense on the perimeter. Remember Barry made 16 3-pointers against Auburn 2 weeks ago. Norfolk State was 12-34 from 3-point range on Friday night.

The Tigers will continue to be without Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy who are still suspended in relation to the ongoing FBI investigation. Bryce Brown will look to build off his career high of 31 points in the opener. Of Brown’s 31 points, he was a perfect 8-8 inside the 3 point line and he looked to take the ball to the basket instead of just settling for 3-pointers. After Thursday, Auburn will play either Old Dominion or Temple on Friday. The other side of the bracket has Clemson, Dayton, Hofstra, Ohio and Auburn will play one of these teams on Sunday in Charleston. These are important games for Auburn to try and get some wins over decent competition in a tournament setting. War Eagle!
