Boom! Tigers Land Second Commitment of the Day!

4* WR Seth Williams made it a double boom Thanksgiving for Auburn football.

Williams is not only a talented WR but helped lead his high school basketball team to a state title as well.

I will be honest, I did not see this one coming today. Earlier, the Tigers snagged their 16th commitment in 4* ATH Richard Jibunor. Just hours later, Auburn went back for second helpings nabbing 4* WR Seth Williams making this quite the Thanksgiving day for Auburn recruiting.

This past spring, Williams almost committed to Florida State before postponing his decision. It was then thought that the Alabama Crimson Tide would be the team to beat considering he lives right next door in Cottondale, AL. But Auburn stayed relentless in their pursuit, most notably Kodi Burns, and were rewarded with the talented wideout’s commitment.

This is a HUGE pickup for the Tigers, pulling out an extremely talented football player from Alabama’s backyard. Auburn has often been on the wrong end of these recruiting battles so it has to be a good feeling for the coaching staff to return the favor today.

Highlights

Scouting Report

What first jumps out when watching Williams’s tape is his size. He stands somewhere between 6’3”-6’4” and has to be at least 210 lbs. Despite being one of the biggest dudes on the field, he’s also one of the most athletic making him an absolute matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. He’s got really strong hands and does a great job of high pointing the football. He will need to improve his route running when he gets to Auburn but he’s got the raw tools to be a monster for the Auburn Tigers.

The Class

Last recruiting cycle, Kodi Burns took a lot of heat from Auburn fans about not being a great recruiter. This year’s class will shut those people up. Burns has assembled an incredible WR class this cycle and there’s a possibly he might not be done with Justyn Ross and Anthony Schwartz still out there as well. However, I think the coaching staff would be absolutely thrilled if this WR class ended up “only” being Williams, Matthew Hill and Shedrick Jackson. All three bring different skillsets to the table and should all challenge for early playing time next season.

It’s pretty clear Auburn is building some serious momentum on the recruiting trail having landed 4* CB Christian Tutt last week, 2020 DE Andy Boykin earlier this week, 4* Richard Jibunor this morning and now 4* WR Seth Williams this afternoon. Oh and there’s also the news that came out yesterday that Auburn plans on bringing in a former Australian footballer to punt next season. If Auburn can keep winning on the field, I fully expect this 2018 signing class to finish just as strong off the field.

War Eagle Seth!
