SEC Championship rematch -- does it get any better?

NCAA Football: Georgia at Auburn John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Here we go! The day of the SEC Championship always dawns a little weirdly, and this year will be no different. Instead of having the usual games to wake up to and watch as the day begins, you’ve only got a couple. Today it’s the MAC/AAC/Big 12 Championship Games, and they’ll provide a poor backdrop for the nerves and excitement that’ll be entangling the Atlanta area as Auburn and Georgia get set for round two.

It’s also different since the game is still on CBS, but a half-hour later, and probably even longer than normal. Last week’s Iron Bowl broadcast was actually shorter than I expected, due to the fact that there weren’t a ton of incomplete passes and unnecessary stoppages. Today will be a long one, I’m sure. Still, waiting that extra half hour or so for kickoff to come feels weird nonetheless.

There are a ton of Playoff scenarios with the games in the Big 10, ACC, and Big 12 also coming today, but the only one that matters for us is the game in Atlanta. Beat the Dawgs, and we’re in. That’s it. We’ll go to the Playoff. Simple. There’s no need to worry about seeding and matchups and traveling across the country. All that matters is beating Georgia. Again. We did it once in impressive fashion, and we can absolutely do it again. Heck, we may make it look easy. However it happens, just get it done.

Just get it done.
