Cornerback recruiting has been hard to get a handle on this recruiting cycle. Top targets 4* Jalyn Armour-Davis and 4* Kyler McMichael each chose to commit to someone else and the Tigers seemed to cycle through a number of other targets. But 4* Christian Tutt was always a guy the Tigers were high on and hoping to get on campus. They did once in the summer but nothing seemed to come of it. Then he came back for the UGA game and everything changed. The Army All-American committed not long after his visit. Ohio State made a late push but it wasn’t enough as Tutt officially signed with the Tigers today.

Tutt is one of those guys that’s been a known commodity for a long time. He was once ranked a 5* but one of the curses of being a well known recruit at a young age is recruiting services have plenty of time to pick apart your game. The stud corner might have seen his rating fall over the years but it’s clear this kid has big time talent and a chance to play early.
“Physical” is the first work that comes to mind when watching this kid. He plays with an edge which you have to love and he plays fast.
He’s also incredibly athletic. He put together quite the highlight reel of offensive plays over his high school career and sometimes made opponents look downright foolish.
Don’t be surprised if you see Tutt get a chance to win a job as a kick returner. He was an elite kick and punt returner in high school and given Auburn’s struggles to generate much from either this past season they might look to some fresh blood for a spark.
Tutt is already on campus and practicing with the Tigers. Auburn returns five DBs (assuming Carlton Davis leaves early) that got a lot of playing time so the need isn’t necessarily desperate at cornerback for him to be ready day 1 but it sure would be a nice boost to the secondary. It think his future is either at the boundary corner spot or at nickel back. His combination of strength and phsyicality make him an ideal player to match up against bigger WRs or to help out in the run game.
The Tigers got a big time time player in Tutt and I am excited to watch him develop over the next 3-4 seasons.
War Eagle Christian!
