Auburn and Bruce Pearl return home to the friendly confines of Auburn Arena today to take on George Mason for the first game of a three-game home stretch on the Plains.
The Tigers took down Dayton on Wednesday night 73-60 in a solid road win to improve their record to 5-1 on the year, and now come home to face a Patriots team that’s 4-3 on the season. George Mason’s four victories this year have come by a total of only 23 points, but the Patriots have competitive losses to Louisville, Louisiana Tech, and Fresno State to go along with the wins. They’ll be ready to play in a close game and Auburn needs to be ready for that.
As for the Tigers, the defense stepped up at Dayton last week, holding the Flyers to just 36% from the floor and 30% from three, while Mustapha Heron continued his strong start to the year and got good help from Chuma Okeke as well. If the Tigers can win today, they’ll have a couple days off before Gardner-Webb comes to town ahead of a visit from UAB next Saturday before the break for exams.
