After a foray into the land of the Atlantic 10 for a couple of games, Auburn gets back into more southern ways as the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb come to town tonight to tangle with Bruce Pearl’s group at Auburn Arena. Uh, you better be there and you’d better be loud. There’s no excuse not to be, and the coach demands it.

Yeah, we’ve got UAB this weekend as well, but for today, it’s GWU a few days after we beat GMU 79-63. Auburn’s dynamic duo of Mustapha Heron and Bryce Brown combined for 35 points in the win and Jared Harper shut the door late with a pair of coffin-nail threes as the Tigers improved to 6-1 on the young season.
Now, it shouldn’t be tough tonight. Gardner-Webb isn’t very good, having started the season 0-3. They’re 3-6 right now, but two of those wins are over teams that ESPN doesn’t even have logos for, and simply labels “WWN” and “BRE” (Warren Wilson College and Brevard College). This game is more about the Tigers and the drive to keep improving before SEC play starts. GWU has a couple guys that can score, but they have just three guys standing taller than 6’6, and don’t present much of a threat anywhere on the floor. This should be a pretty solid tuneup game for Bruce Pearl and company.
