One of Auburn’s longest 2017 commits is now officially a Tiger. Committing back in May, Tadarian Moultry had offers from anyone and everyone, including Alabama, Clemson, and UGA. It was not always a given Moultry would pick (and then stay) with Auburn, with the linebacker saying Auburn and Alabama were both favorites at different times in his recruitment.
Moultry, a native of Birmingham, is rated as the #3 ILB in the country and the #4 player in the state of Alabama. Obviously, he is a huge get for the defensive staff in this class. After only signing one linebacker in last year’s class, Moultry should be able to come in and shine. He plays with good size at 6’2”, 225 lbs, but has also played some safety in high school. Moultry is certainly a player with a feel good story, as he survived a gun shot wound during his sophomore year of high school. He was honored as a US Army All-American this year.
Here’s what we had to say when he committed back in May.
With most of Auburn’s linebackers returning for 2017, I’d be surprised if he sees the field early on. However, as we’ve seen over the years, you can never have too many linebackers. Hopefully we can bring him on enough this year so that he’s ready to compete for a job next year.
War Eagle, Tadarian! We can’t wait to have you hear on the Plains.
