Auburn Falls to Florida 95-114

That was bad.

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Auburn allowed 60+ points in the second half for the third game in the row as the Tigers let the Gators quickly break the 50-50 halftime tie and run away with last night's game in Auburn Arena.

Auburn had an 8 point lead during the first half at one point before allowing the Gators to come back and stretch a lead of their own. A quick run at the end of the first half put the Tigers even at the break.

The last few games were great defensive efforts in the first half for Auburn. This one was... not. Allowing 50 points in a half is never good. Of course, the Gators did the same thing as it was 50-50. After the break, though, the Tigers just couldn't get anything going on defense and let the Gators pull away for the most amount of points scored against the Tigers in Auburn Arena since it opened.

The game was bad all around. Mustapha Heron didn't even reach double-digits for the first time in his Auburn career. Anfernee McLemore did reach a career-high in points, though, which is good news for a young player who continues to get better with every game.

It's a theme with this team that they just can't seem to finish off games in the second half. I don't know if it's youth, psychological issues of folding when things go bad because it's happened so many times, or what. It's a mystery. At some point, you have to wonder if maybe Bruce Pearl will consider slowing the pace the Tigers play at to try to cut down on the quick bad shots.

It was just a bad day, overall, and now the Tigers have to travel to College Station and take on Texas A&M in a must-win if they want to have any hope of the NIT. That game will be Saturday afternoon at 3pm Central.
