BASEBALL
So close to another sweep. Two sweeps in a row would be fantastic this early in the season. Unfortunately, it didn't happen that way. The Tigers let Lipscomb tie the game yesterday late and then win in extra innings. Still, starting with three straight series victories is pretty good as the Tigers took 2 of 3 from Lipscomb. The Friday and Saturday pitching are quite impressive. The Tigers just have to lock up the rest of the rotation.
Here's the official site's weekend notebook.
BASKETBALL
Auburn closed the regular season the right way with a good victory over Missouri. There were times when it looked like the Good Tigers were going to blow yet another double-digit lead, but they came out on top in the end with the 89-78 victory.
With that, Auburn now will open the SEC Tournament Wednesday afternoon against... Missouri. We'll have a preview of the SEC Tournament from Tuco up around noon this afternoon.
EQUESTRIAN
The ladies haven't been quite as dominant as last year's team, but they sure did put on a show this weekend. The 4th ranked Tigers traveled to Texas and defeated #1 Baylor and #2 Texas A&M.
SOFTBALL
When you score 39 runs and only allow 2 over 4 games in a weekend, then you've done pretty well. That's what Auburn Softball did in sweeping all of the teams in the Wilson/DeMarini Classic.
FOOTBALL
Gus met with the media after Saturday's practice. It was a pretty good press conference that updated Auburn fans on a lot of things we want to know about. Of course, you have to sift through the Coach-Speak to get to it, but it's still good info.
Auburn's backfield next year could be scary good with the amount of depth it has. Oh, and then the passing game may be a whole lot better, too.
It was Junior Day on the Plains this past Saturday. If you missed it, check out AUNerd's preview from last Friday. SECCountry.com has some good recaps on how it went that aren't behind a paywall. See what some 2018 players are saying about their visit.
Carl Lawson is BUILT, y'all. He put on a show at the NFL Combine with his 35 reps of 225 lbs. Rudy Ford also had the best bench of the defensive backs.
