BASEBALL

Well, in this conference, it was almost impossible for the streak of series victories to continue. The dream of dominating the conference every weekend came to an end as the Tigers dropped the series to the Aggies in College Station.

SOFTBALL

Things were a little better back home in Auburn where the ladies took on Ole Miss and came away with the series victory. It wasn't easy, but a series win is still a series win.

FOOTBALL

Was there football news over the weekend? You bet there was. A lot of it. We had five articles published on Saturday with A-Day and CROOTIN' going on.

In the recruiting world, the Tigers picked up two commitments on A-Day. The first was from offensive lineman Kameron Stutts. Stutts is a mauler of a blocker and could be a great addition to the Tigers' line. The second was from wide receiver Kolbi Fuqua. It's not surprising that a wide receiver would want to jump on board after watching the Spring Game where the Tigers really aired the ball out with Jarrett Stidham at QB.

Was there a football game Saturday? There was, wasn't there? We had two articles up for the game, one was even up at the half! In that one, we took a way-too-early look at the QB "race" after Jarrett Stidham's performance in the first half. The second piece was about the overall game itself. If you didn't watch it, then catch it when it's on a replay. You'll get way too excited about the upcoming season.

With his performance in the spring game, Jarrett Stidham makes an appearance in early Heisman odds along with another Tiger who didn't even play Saturday (Kamryn Pettway). It's waaaaay too early to begin that kind of talk, but it's easy to see why it would develop given the way he looked.

We're all excited about the way Jarrett Stidham looked Saturday. I may be even more excited about the performance of Nate Craig-Myers, honestly. We need those your wide receivers to really step up in order for Stidham's arm to help us, and Craig-Myers really looked like he could be the guy. Will Hastings is someone who could get a ton of catches this year, too, if JF3 doesn't come on strong and steal that role.

Gus Malzahn was happiest with his 1st teams after the scrimmage. I guess that's good, right? I mean, if they didn't look great against the 2nd teamers, then we may have some issues.
