News and notes from the Auburn corners of the Internet

Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

BASEBALL

The Tigers are ranked in every single pole. Yep. Every one of them. In one of them, the Tigers are the highest ranked team in the SEC. That's pretty impressive for a team that didn't even make a Regional last season and only barely made one the year before.

The Tigers finish their "series" with Georgia Tech tonight at Plainsman Park. Auburn won the last meeting between the two teams in Atlanta.

SOFTBALL

ESPN isn't going to let the story about the Auburn and Florida series and the incident following the last game go away. They put it as one of their top stories in the last week of softball.

Meanwhile, there has been some reshuffling of duties among the softball coaches and Clint Myers spoke about the situation of the program and where they're going from here. He knows the Tigers should be much better in the SEC standings right now if they hadn't given away the first game against Florida.

FOOTBALL

It seems like just last year that Nick Ruffin and some of the other Seniors were first arriving at Auburn. The time flies for them, too, as they have one last chance to go out with a championship.

There sure has been a lot written this spring about the #3 spot at running back. Personally, I think it's all just to have something to write because I'm willing to bet that barring injury Malik Miller is the #3 back.

Paul James III was injured in practice last season in one of those strange and very bad luck incidents. Now, the Tigers are ready to see him turn loose and possibly take over one of the end spots with Carl Lawson gone.

After all but disappearing last season, Jason Smith is hoping to be a senior leader for the wide receiver group this year.
