It’s a double boom day for Gus Malzahn as the Tigers picked up their 2nd commit of the day and third of the weekend. 3* ATH Kolbi Fuqua told Auburn coaches before heading out that he was jumping on board according to Benjamin Wolk of SECCountry.
"I committed today. … I just loved the family down here. I love the way the coaches treat the players. I love the surroundings. It reminds me of home," Fuqua said. "I didn’t know when I first came here, but like I said, I’d kinda known all along. Shoot, it was about 30 minutes ago to be honest. … I knew a while back, but I just wanted to make up my mind."
The 6’1" 210 lb athlete out of Cordova, AL has been on the Tigers radar for some time now and a guy the staff is really high on. He only holds a few offers, most notably from Ole Miss, but if Auburn is accepting a kid’s commitment this early it shows how highly they think of his talent.
Highlights
Scouting Report
Fuqua could play either safety or wide receiver in college but it appears the Tigers want him at wideout. He’s a nifty athlete with a solid frame that can do a lot of different things on the outside. He has the build to go up for a ball deep and the quickness to take a quick screen the distance. It’s clear the Tigers are focusing more on recruiting bigger athletes for the wide receiver spot and Fuqua obviously fits that mold.
The Class
The Tigers now have six commits in their 2018 class and have jumped all the way up to #13 in the 247 Composite rankings after starting the day at #20. Auburn now carries some real recruiting momentum into the offseason and will hope to build on this solid class over the coming months.
