Auburn begins its pursuit of a third straight SEC Tournament title Thursday afternoon against the 7th seeded Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats played Wednesday afternoon against South Carolina in their first game of the tournament.

The Wilcats (36-16) beat the Gamecocks 7-3 thanks in large part to Abbey Meek's two home runs.

Kentucky is one of the SEC teams Auburn did not play in 2017 during the regular season. You have to think this works in the favor of Auburn as the Tigers can throw ace Kaylee Carlson out against a team that hasn't seen her all year and will take some time to adjust to her pitching. Hopefully, Auburn's batters won't take a similar amount of time adjusting to Kentucky's pitcher. Whether that is ace Meagan Prince or not remains to be seen.

Auburn is 8-1 against Kentucky since Clint Myers arrived, and the Tigers enter this game one of the nation's best in double-plays, ERA, and scoring. This definitely seems like it should be advantage Auburn.

The SEC Tournament is win or go home. There are no brackets. What happens in this tournament shouldn't affect the Tigers' position in the NCAA Tournament. Winning it all, though, could boost the Tigers into the NCAA Tournament as it has the last two seasons.
