We’re getting down to it. A lot of information is coming out now regarding starters and other developments on the depth chart.
Monday: Jarrett Stidham named starting quarterback.
Tuesday: the biggest question of fall camp is answered. Gus Malzahn names a starting punter.

As you can see, he’s wearing a very distinctive number. That’s the one of late former Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen. It’s a big honor.

Aside from Shannnon taking the job, Kevin Steele assessed his defense yesterday evening and seemed pretty pleased overall.

He’s also going to be using a bunch of young guys in his scheme, whether that be in a role in the two-deep, or just to help out in spot situations. He’s done it before (see Marlon Davidson starting last year’s opener), and isn’t afraid to test out the new guys early.

As for an interesting little note that popped up last night, might Auburn’s week two opponent go the same route that the Tigers did last year?

What a weird turn that would be, to see Dabo rotate quarterbacks in after what Auburn did very unsuccessfully in that game last season.
In other Tiger news, a former Auburn baseball player reached an important milestone last night. It’s 2015 AL MVP Josh Donaldson.

And finally, we’re almost ready for football — er, futbol. The Auburn soccer team opens its season soon, and they’ve been picked to finish 6th in the SEC after going deep in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.

We’ll get to hear from Chip Lindsey later today, so stick around for that! Until then, War Eagle.
