This is the next-to-last Friday without Auburn football, and so at this time next week we’ll be putting out predictions and things of that nature, but for now, it’s like we’re in the calm before the storm.

Still, there are some things to digest from yesterday’s news cycle! Most importantly, Auburn got a huge commitment from an in-state running back, beating out Alabama for Asa Martin.

Our own AUNerd put together a fantastic article about the commitment and what it does for Auburn’s class so far yesterday, so give that a click if you haven’t already.

In NFL news, he’s baaaaaaaaaaack!

Cam Newton returned from offseason injury and surgery to play in the Panthers’ preseason game last night against Jacksonville. This game had a fairly large Auburn contingent showing off, including...

Cameron Artis-Payne scored two of the Panthers three touchdowns last night (Cam Newton threw for the other one), so former Tigers accounted for all of the Panthers’ big plays.

Oh, and here’s Corey Grant doing things for the Jags as well.

And finally for football today, some Auburn defenders were given some big-time preseason publicity when Kirk Herbstreit nominated Tre Williams and Deshaun Davis as one of the best linebacker tandems in the country. We knew they were good, but Kirk’s throwing around some superlatives over here.

And finally, we have our 2017-18 Auburn basketball conference schedule! It looks like the Tigers don’t get to play at that wonky gym up in Nashville this year, so whatever else happens on the slate is gravy.

More coming, War Eagle!
