With the news that Sean White was dismissed from the team yesterday, it brought Auburn’s scholarship quarterbacks down to just two. Jarrett Stidham and Malik Willis. We’d hope that the redshirt can remain on Willis, but who knows what will happen with nine more games this season.
As for White, here’s some more reaction...
Don't blame Gus Malzahn for Sean White's mistakes. https://t.co/NI86pJTNoo— Kevin Scarbinsky (@KevinScarbinsky) September 18, 2017
While the QB numbers are dwindling, the running back numbers may have gotten a boost. Kerryon Johnson practiced on Sunday after being held out of two games with a hamstring injury, and that bodes well for a backfield corps that only had two players record carries in the win over Mercer.
Auburn "hoping" Kerryon Johnson can return from injury this week. What does that mean the team's other RBs? https://t.co/e1E9CUOKKE— Josh Vitale (@AUBlog) September 18, 2017
Yes, that win over Mercer was ugly, but the offense did produce numbers (aside from, you know, points and turnovers), and one of the big pieces was the shuffling of offensive staff.
Oh, by the way, we’ll see Mercer again relatively soon.
In case you missed it yesterday, game times were released for September 30th, and Auburn will have itself a night game against one of the most impressive teams of the early 2017 season when Mississippi State comes to town.
If we can get by that, maybe the ball will get rolling. Nineteen point favorites this weekend in CoMo, get your gambling cash ready.
