Yeah, we lost at Alabama last night, breaking our fourteen-game winning streak. The downsides are obvious, but on the plus side, we played maybe our worst game all year, shot horribly from three and from the foul line, and still had a chance to win the game with a few seconds left on the road. Those are positives that we can draw on for sure. I can’t imagine that this team is unprepared for Georgia at home this weekend.
During the game, news began to leak out that we’d gotten ourselves a new athletic director. Stepping in to replace Jay Jacobs will be Allen Greene, who’s held the same job at the University of Buffalo since 2015.

University at Buffalo sources confirm AD Allen Greene has been hired for same job at Auburn. He was awaiting full approval, if that hasnt happened already. Good guy who did good work in short stint at UB.

Auburn's next athletics director, if approved by the Board, is a heck of a fundraiser — and that's exactly what Auburn needs right now. More: https://t.co/ehsRAC2Iwt

Asked someone who’s worked w Allen Greene about the AD and what #Auburn is getting. “Great interpersonal skills. Charismatic and likable. He processes and is very even keel.” https://t.co/BrMX2XqyRu

Allen Greene is a very impressive guy. Across college athletics you will hear nothing but praise. Still a surprising choice for Auburn coming from Buffalo but it’s a bold, forward thinking hire.

There’s a lot of news and a ton of reaction out there already about the hire. He’s young, just 40 years old, and has spent time in the SEC. He was a key fundraiser at Ole Miss about a decade ago, and will be the youngest AD in the conference once he steps into the job.
Greene served as a deputy AD under Danny White at Buffalo before White headed to UCF to take the athletic director job there. Obviously, we’ve seen the job White’s done in Orlando, and if Greene’s learned anything under him, he should be able to make an impact in many areas at Auburn.
Much more to come on the hiring of our new athletic director once more detail comes out! War Eagle!
