Auburn’s final home game of the season arrives this Saturday, with the Liberty Flames coming in to Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Gus Malzahn’s Tigers are... reeling? Is that the right word? Maybe not, but nobody feels good, and the head coach looked as lost as ever in his postgame press conference after Auburn fell to Georgia 27-10 last Saturday. All of the pieces are there, but it hasn’t happened, and I think the struggle to figure out exactly why things haven’t come together has weakened everyone on the team.
There were moments where you though that Auburn was perfectly capable of not only hanging with Georgia, but outright beating the Bulldogs in Athens. Instead, little mistakes and poor execution doomed the Tigers. Not to mention, we couldn’t stop them in the slightest. It’s the second time that Auburn’s allowed 300 rushing yards this season. It used to be that Auburn was the team gashing everyone else in the run game, but that’s been turned around.
Either way, Liberty should — should — be an easy win if we’re not looking too far ahead to Alabama next week, but they’ve got a tough offense. Thankfully, their defense is worse than bad. We might see some points.
