NEW POLL ALERT: Auburn Consistent Again in AP Rankings

Where’s the love?

NCAA Basketball: NC-Asheville at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Another week, another couple of wins for Auburn, and another go-around with the same ranking in the AP Poll.

The Tigers are the second-highest ranked team out of the SEC after Tennessee’s upset win over top-ranked Gonzaga yesterday afternoon, but the top ten has pretty much the usual suspects dotting the landscape.

  1. Kansas
  2. Duke
  3. Tennessee
  4. Gonzaga
  5. Michigan
  6. Virginia
  7. Nevada
  8. Auburn
  9. Michigan State
  10. Florida State

Mississippi State and Kentucky are the only other SEC teams ranked in the poll, coming in at #18 and #19 respectively. Auburn, meanwhile, had two fairly easy victories over UNC-Asheville and Dayton this week, with an entire week off before a date in Birmingham against UAB. Auburn’s currently doing one of the best jobs in the country at hassling teams on defense and making them turn the ball over (5th nationally in forcing turnovers), and if the scoring stays up to the current pace, then the ceiling is very high.

After UAB, it’s NC State in the first true road game of the year, then back home for Murray State before the Christmas break. Buckle up!
