Tigers Sign Elite Athlete 4-Star Zion Puckett

Don’t be shocked if Puckett is an early impact player in 2019.

SB Nation Recruiting

4* ATH Zion Puckett had a quiet public recruitment. There weren’t a lot of top 15 or top 10 school lists. Not a ton of photos of him decked out in the gear of the school he’s visiting. He wasn’t a guy that attended a bunch of camps or got a ton of hype for his work in summer in 7 on 7s.

But behind the scenes this was an intense recruitment.

The Griffin, GA native is one of the best athletes in this 2019 class. He held offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and plenty of others. Puckett was a top priority for many of those schools as well and they would have taken his commitment in a heartbeat. But the Tigers were too tough to beat in this one. Puckett fell in love pretty quickly and after going public with his commitment in Aug

ust, he shut his recruitment down. Today, he officially became an Auburn Tiger.

I’m a huge Zion Puckett fan. I personally believe he’s one of the top 50 players in the country in this 2019 class. At 6’0” 200 lbs, Puckett possesses great length and size for the cornerback spot. But what I love most about him is his attitude. He plays with an edge and isn’t looking to just win at the point of attack, he wants to dominate. Puckett has elite ball skills and is definitely not afraid to stick his nose in on run support. Auburn could also use him on the offensive side of the ball if they wanted given his explosive playmaking abilities but his future is most likely in the defensive backfield. He will start out at cornerback.

Puckett is an early enrollee and will have a chance to see the field early. Auburn signed an outstanding DB class last cycle and are doing the same in 2019. As these young bucks grow and develop I got a feeling this Auburn secondary is gonna be a whole lot of fun to watch in the very near future.

War Eagle Zion!
